CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY THAT MAKES SENSE
Corporate Social Responsibility and ESG
We make the law accessible
Over the past few years, we have focused on investing in making the law accessible and transparent by implementing a wide range of initiatives.
One such important initiative is the free platform “The Democracy Game – Our Constitution at Stake” aimed at institutions of education in Denmark, which we have developed in cooperation with Gyldendal and the Ministry of Education.
Moreover, we ensure transparency to the industry by opening our doors to the public as part of the Culture Night event.
CSR PARTNERSHIPS
We have established permanent CSR partnerships with Danish Red Cross Youth (Ungdommens Røde Kors), The Street Lawyers (Gadejuristen), Copenhagen Legal Aid (Københavns Retshjælp) and the Danish Foundation for Entrepreneurship (Fonden for Entreprenørskab) via pro bono work, financial support, knowledge building and cooperation activities. The aim is to support, develop end challenge our social responsibility and innovation efforts. In addition, we support a wide range of CSR initiatives, for instance by making donations.
DANISH RED CROSS YOUTH
As part of our CSR strategy, we have set up a partnership with Danish Red Cross Youth under which we provide free legal advice to the organisation, contribute to cooperation activities and donate sponsorship grants. We do this to take social responsibility as a company by doing what we do best, that is, to provide solid legal advice. Moreover, Danish Red Cross Youth works with a target group and values that we wish to support.
COPENHAGEN LEGAL AID
In 2016, we set up a partnership with Copenhagen Legal Aid. We have committed to supporting the organisation with text books and legal information search services so as to ensure regular updating of their library and knowledge base. We also support other cooperation activities as and when needed and relevant, and we help the organisation by making facilities and premises available for its use.
We support the provision of free legal aid for people who cannot afford legal representation, and we are proud that several of our employees have worked with or work with legal aid.
THE STREET LAWYERS
In our partnership with The Street Lawyers, we have committed to keeping the organisation’s library up to date by contributing text books and legal information search services.
When we last supplied The Street Lawyers with text books, our library staff had sorted through a wide range of legal subjects and found 45 titles for the organisation. In future, we will keep The Street Lawyers’ text book collection up to date with new editions and new titles.
THE DANISH FOUNDATION FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP
We contribute with a sponsorship, and our attorneys participate as judges at various events, including Danish Entrepreneurship Award, Start Up Programme, Company Programme, NextLevel, Projekt Edison, Social Enterprise 360, Skills for the Future and the project Manager for a day (Leder for en dag).
“In Demark, we are extremely skilled at thinking innovatively and working on a project basis. Innovation is a difficult-to-offshore, non-depletable resource. If we want our society to continue to prosper and thrive, we need to be even better at fostering innovation skills in our country’s young people.
The Danish Foundation for Entrepreneurship contributes to spotlighting this. Kammeradvokaten / Poul Schmith supports the Danish Foundation for Entrepreneurship’s good work as a matter of course, as the innovative and project-based way of working is an integral part of our corporate culture. That way we all work for a brighter future for all,” said Attorney Sebastian Meyer Peters.
EMPLOYEE-DRIVEN CSR FOCUS
Our company fulfils a special role in society based on our longstanding cooperation with the Danish government, requiring that we maintain a special, heightened focus on corporate social responsibility.
Our corporate culture and CSR policy are anchored in a number of principles requiring our employees to show commitment and take ownership. This means that we all have to be role models and ambassadors for:
- Ethics, including the rules on ethical attorney conduct
- Compliance with legislation and international standards
- Due process of law
- Working conditions and management
- Social responsibility
- Rules on anti-money laundering, anti-corruption and gifts and sponsorships
- Safety and security
